What is an API call?

Each time you send a request with your API credentials (API key and secret) to api.thenounproject.com and successfully authenticate, it counts as an API call. Calls are grouped into two types: Icon calls, which include any call that contains an icon ID, and Services calls, which include all other API v2 endpoints. Please see our API documentation for more details.

Can I use my icon API key in multiple apps or websites?

Yes! There is no limit to how many clients can connect to a single API key. You’re free to use yours across multiple sites or applications. Service reliably scales to handle any call volume.

What icon sizes are offered in API search results?

Every image in the Noun Project Icon API is available in PNG and SVG formats. PNG icons are 20-1200 pixels. SVG icons can scale to any size with no loss of quality.

Can I get icons in SVG format or in specific colors or styles?

Yes! PNGs are included in all icon calls. Get SVGs by specifying the filetype in query parameters. SVG icons are available to Free Trial and Pro plans and can be retrieved singly or in sets. Do you offer a Free Trial of the API?

Yes! You can try the icon API free for up to 30 days or up to $5 in value. When the trial period is over, upgrade to a Pro plan to continue using your API key. Both Pro and free icon API plans include a detailed dashboard to review current and past usage.

How can I track my API usage?

All API accounts include a customer dashboard that lets you monitor API call volume and application usage with hourly, daily, and monthly insights. You will receive and can explore all API developer dashboard features by starting a free icon API trial.

How does the Pay-Per-Use API Pro plan work?

With the Pay-Per-Use plan, you get $25 of monthly usage included, giving you affordable access to all API capabilities. If your usage goes beyond $25 in a month, you simply pay for what you use, making it easy to scale as your needs grow. You can also set and update a monthly budget to help you monitor usage and stay in control of costs (max 2 budget updates/day).
